Popcorn seasonings are a popular addition to freshly popped corn. The most popular and widely used is obviously salt and butter which can be found at nearly every movie theater in the United States. These movie theater popcorns are heavily seasoned with both butter and salt often making them more fattening than eating three Big Macs from McDonalds.

Other types of popcorn seasoning are very popular as well. Caramel is often added making caramel corn which is a much sweeter variety of popcorn that can often be sticky. Cracker Jacks are a caramel flavored popcorn that is widely popular.

There are also gourmet popcorn seasoning flavors such as the very popular white cheddar and other cheeses. There are Cajun flavorings, ranch flavors, sour cream and onion, jalapeno, parmesan and garlic and many other common flavor combinations. These flavorings often add a high amount of sodium or fat, so if a healthy treat is planned it is best to leave the popcorn unflavored.
